Obtaining a driver's license is an important milestone in any teenager's life. It is more than just a piece of plastic that allows one to drive a vehicle - it is a symbol of independence.
However, with this newfound freedom comes a great deal of responsibility. There are rules and regulations that must be learned and implemented before one can become a safe driver. At Academy Auto School, our goal is to ensure that every student receives instruction in accordance with the laws set forth by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. All of our instructors are certified by the RMV, and our facility provides a learning environment that is spacious and comfortable.
When am I eligible?
According to the Massachusetts RMV regulations, a person is eligible to enroll in a driver's education course at 15 years and 9 months. However, a person may not obtain a learner's permit until he or she has reached the age of 16. While the law only requires 16 years as the minimum age, Academy Auto School requires that the student possess the learner's permit for 3 months before any on-roads will be scheduled. The logic behind this requirement is that the student will fulfill the on-road component of the course in the last 3 months prior to licensure eligibility at 16 years and 6 months, thereby more easily retaining the principles, laws, and experiences from the course for the actual license road test administered by the RMV.
